Description:

Vampire Cup is Ireland’s biggest and bloodiest intervarsity! 1 in 4 of us will require a blood transfusion at some point in our lives. However, only 3% of the eligible population donates blood with some of the least amount of donations coming from 18-24 year old's. At the beginning of the pandemic, medical students from all over Ireland set out to change this. Vampire Cup is a student-run social enterprise that pits colleges and universities against each other to see who can run the most effective blood donation campaigns, donate the most blood, and win The Vampire Cup! One by one, college by college, students & staff from across the country have joined us on this journey. 16 colleges from across Ireland representing over 240,000 students and staff will be in the running for the Vampire Cup and working together to create the race to save lives. Working alongside The Irish Blood Transfusion Service as well as professionals in the fields of Medicine, Surgery, and Marketing, we will introduce young people to blood donation in a fun, friendly, and engaging way. We will facilitate the creation of lifelong donors and integrate blood donation into the college experience. Just because you're ineligible to donate blood doesn't mean you're ineligible to participate in Vampire Cup. You can get points for checking your eligibility, using your college's Vampire Cup Hashtag, and getting family & friends to donate on your behalf. Everyone can be a hero!
